In 1993, I began my search for a dog. I knew the characteristics that I wanted, laid back, natural guardian, etc and I settled on 4 breeds; Great Pyrenees, Kuvasz, Leonberger, and Anatolian. Long story short, the Pyr stole my heart.

Shelly came into my life in June of 1994. She was 6 years old when we first met. A retired show dog who graced me with her presence, her dedication, her devotion, and her love. She spent her remaining years with me, living the rich life of a spoiled yet well-loved dog. Shelly taught me more lessons on life than I could have ever hoped for. The most important being there is nothing on earth that can replace unconditional love.

Since Shelly's passing, I've had a number of Pyrs grace my life. Some were a permanent part of my life, other's were rescue dogs that I've fostered. Each of them, in their own way, filled my heart with love and shared the different nuances that made them individuals but all have the same characteristics of the breed.

I will always love and cherish the memories of those that have since moved on. I continue to look forward to the time I share with the Pyrs that I have and those that will continue to become a part of my life.
